HABC - First Aid At Work Use An AED

Course Overview:

The Highfield Level 3 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Use of an AED is tailored for individuals designated as first aiders in their workplace. This qualification ensures participants are proficient in delivering prompt and effective first aid, thereby enhancing workplace safety and compliance.

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries, anaphylaxis and auto-injectors.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Role and Responsibilities of a First Aider: Understand the duties and legal responsibilities associated with being a workplace first aider.
  • Incident Assessment: Learn to swiftly and accurately assess emergency situations to provide appropriate interventions.
  • Managing Unresponsive Casualties: Gain skills in handling unresponsive individuals, including performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Usage: Acquire knowledge in the safe application of AEDs during cardiac emergencies
  • Addressing Wounds and Bleeding: Develop techniques to manage various types of wounds and control bleeding effectively.

     

  • Handling Shock and Seizures: Understand the causes, recognition, and management of shock and seizure incidents.

This international qualification would be typically delivered to learners through a 1-day training course (6 hours).

HABC - Paediatric First Aid At Work Use An AED

Course Overview:

The Highfield Level 3 International Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid and Use of an AED is recommended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and to provide candidates, who are responsible for the welfare of infants and children, with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to support first aid and the use of a defibrillator in the workplace.

This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to gain the knowledge and skills required to enable them to provide effective emergency paediatric first aid.

Learners will become familiar with the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation, such as a child or an infant who is unresponsive, has an airway obstruction, has breathing difficulties or is suffering from shock.

Assessment Method:

Participants’ competencies are evaluated through:

Hands-on assessment of first aid skills in simulated
scenarios.

Multiple-choice questions to test understanding of first aid principles and practices.

Certification Validity:

Upon successful completion, the certification is valid for three years, after which a refresher course is recommended to maintain proficiency and compliance.

The course is accredited by Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS).
